We have received good news this month as the Parish Council have agreed to replace the flat roof which covers the pavilion, part of the main hall, and the sports changing rooms.

The roof has been struggling over the past four years or so, regularly failing in the event of downpours and prolonged spells of rain, despite repeated attempts to patch it up. The Pre-School who are housed in the pavilion have had their equipment store flooded and we’ve seen puddles in the changing rooms bigger than those in the road outside! At times the leaks have damaged the electrics and the fire alarm threatening closure of the building.

The Parish Council have specified the work, will be seeking tenders for an August replacement and managing the project on behalf of the community. Once the works are complete, we will be able to make improvements to those parts of the building, safe in the knowledge the building will stay dry and the underlying structures will be protected. The roof has been failing for many years and the Trustees are immensely grateful to the Council for both funding and leading this work.

Replacement of the roof means the village hall will be closed from Monday 27th July to Monday 31st August. Whilst we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, closure is unavoidable and has been carefully scheduled to minimise disruption to all users of the hall.
